Summary: The incomplete collection of letters exchanged between a US soldier and his friends and family. 12/23
Author's Note:  These letters were originally posted as supporting extras on a WWII RP. They were fun to write and I might add one or two more in future.

28th October 1942
USS Ulysses S. Grant

Mikey lad,

Hiya wee man! I hope you're still being a good boy and have been going to school regularly like you should and have been looking after your mum. She and your Gran need a smart and reliable fella who can help them get by.

The ship your daddy is on is very full of soldiers and will get to land soon and all of us will go onto shore to chase the Germans all the way back to Germany. It'll be like running the Marathon except all the way across Europe. Me and Uncle Danny and all the rest of us can't come home until we win but you know of course that we will because Boston firemen like us always win in the end.

Did Mister Reddington tell you the story of Saint Patrick? If he hasn't go down to the firehouse with your mum to ask him to. While you're there you should ask Mister Barnes to teach you how to make apple pies because he makes the best apple pies in the world and your mum is very fond of apple pies. If you helped make an apple pie for your mum for Christmas she'd like that very much.

If you have another tin soldier around you should have your mum send him out to us because Private Patrick should have a buddy. Every soldier needs a buddy to look after him and keep him safe and Private Patrick doesn't have a buddy right now. You have to name him before you send him tho' so we know what to call him when he gets here.

Your uncle Peter will be coming to live with you and every one soon. You haven't met him but he's not a bad sort of fella. He's been away working for the state but they don't need his help any more so he's coming home to find a new job. It'll be fair strange having him around but I hope you'll help your mum and Aunt Susan and Gran just the same as you always do so it isn't too hard for them when Uncle Peter arrives.

Have your mum help you write a letter back so Private Patrick's buddy can carry it when you send him.

Many hugs and love,
