Title: Like Ghosts
Rating: K+ (Suitable for ages 13 and above)
Disclaimers: The world of Richard Bolitho is the sole creation of Alexander Kent. I'm only borrowing a very small part of it. Names given in this story are fictional and any relation to an actual person, living or dead, is purely incidental.
Original pen-date: 7 November 2010
Summary: Bolitho-verse/other canon. A pair of soldiers struggle to find their way without a regiment to support them. March 1784.
Author's Note: This is the result of an attack of inspiration yesterday, while re-reading Command A King's Ship. The mention of two 'tattered veterans' relying on handouts managed somehow to stir up an insistent plot bunny. I'm tying it into one of my own one-shots ("Scarlet and White") as well.

This may even be a fitting Remembrance Day sort of story.
