Summary: Bolitho-verse/other canon. A pair of soldiers struggle to find their way without a regiment to support them. March 1784.
Author's Note: This is the result of an attack of inspiration yesterday, while re-reading Command A King's Ship. The mention of two 'tattered veterans' relying on handouts managed somehow to stir up an insistent plot bunny. I'm tying it into one of my own one-shots ("Scarlet and White") as well.
This may even be a fitting Remembrance Day sort of story.
