There doesn't seem to be much written about prisoners from either side, at least that I've been able to find, but it appears that British prisoners were often used as farm labour, to help keep them occupied. American prisoners, by contrast, were packed onto prison hulks or lodged in captured, overcrowded houses, largely in New York.
